Within Temptation – Memories

My brother delves into rock music a whole lot more than I do. It is near nigh impossible for me to find songs in the midst of the screamos, metals and monstrous roarers who fill the genre and suffocate the good stuff like pillow fluff. So I stay on the surface and watch while my more musically-adventurous brother goes into the well, and let him scoop the tasty fisheses into the bucket so I can wheel the good ones up.

Somehow the group Within Temptation got Stumbled to me by my brother, and I was struck by the song Memories – ethereal and haunting and beautiful. If you like Evanescence, this one’s for you. The lead singer has a voice up there with Amy Lee, and the song is so strikingly filled with emotion that you can’t help but listen. Few singers can make you feel music like this one can; it made me think of the first time I heard Amy Lee years ago, or the credits to a movie. Twilight fans take heed.
