Oh what a miserable morning. After a wonderful late evening spent in the corner booth of the nearly abandoned Pub whilst typing away to my heart’s content with the soundtrack to Lemony Snicket’s movie on headphones, I woke up Friday morning to find I was in a miserable state. Sick beyond the ability to get out of bed. Luckily I had the strength to email my professors and say I wasn’t able to come due to ailments, and they had the decency to let me off easy and not assign twenty lashings upon my return. In fact they were all very lenient and even offered to help me catch up if I made it through the weekend alive.
Luckily, I don’t have that certain class on Fridays. It could be for that certain professor what I call the anti-Oliver-Twist effect. When it comes to reading assignments and essays, instead of begging for ‘more’ we are really more likely to beg ‘please Widow Corney, less‘.

I wonder if anybody caught it in the second sentence yet. Starts with P and ends in -ub. Makes me want to say cheers to all the jolly chaps back in Worchestirtonbay and Wingtoningdonshire. Actually this Pub isn’t a real pub, they just call it The Pub because college kids like to imagine they’re going to Oxford. Like a real pub it is a wonderful den of merriment and food, but that is as close a resemblance as it gets. The only drinks served are coffee and water, and there are no thugs, barmaids, hobbits, wizards, or members of Parliament or the House of Lords. For my laptop and plethora of notebooks I always take the table closest to the electrical plug and coincidentally in a darkened corner. Makes me feel mysterious for some reason. It was the absolute best thirty minutes before closing, because they were slowly dimming the lights to let the people still there know they were ready for them to leave. I could almost hear a saxophone start playing in the distance…
Anyhow, there is a movie whose trailer is so awesome I’m practically forced to see it once it comes out. I have also done a bit of American Idol watching due to illness. Anybody got any picks on that so far?

Some of the photos and video clips I took towards the end of January:
Ok, I know I talked super-fast again at the beginning, but this was a quick video. Those pictures and more are on the Photos page. Enjoy

Lots going on:
- Signed up a few new affiliates for the show
- Got a new site for the show
- Kaza Kingsley said she will be playing my Erec Rex video at schools coming up this year on her tour.
- My first Izzy video has gotten over 4,000 views
- My Man-gibon video has gotten over 1,070 views in 3 days, and I didn’t even send it anywhere.
- My inHumanities test wasn’t half bad. Luckily I knew Frankenstein pretty well.
- Caught up with somebody I haven’t talked to in many years
- Finally heard a Amy Winehouse song other than Rehab. Bought it.
- Cooked a roast and took video proof
- Rearranged my room so my video camera has better lighting and I have an L-shaped desk. I call it the Studio. My roommates call it the Office.
I have a ton of photos and video clips of this place but I have to get them all together before I get them up, which will be after the math test I am dreading today. Writing and English is my strong subject. Math is not.
During a certain class, I am often distracted by writing in my notebook the latest quote from a certain professor. I ended up with a list that certainly won’t look like homework when he checks it. Example of something the professor has said: This formula is as useful as those movies about the woman who every time she sings the flowers grow and the ravens turn into robins.
Or: I much prefer addition over subtraction, because as my grandmother always said, addition is bright and happy like the sun, and subtraction is cheap and tawdry like the moon.
Or: If I am feeling really evil tomorrow, this will be on Friday’s test.

In which I go through a typical day in my life as a guy in college, as told through my meals. Tell me how you like this video: it’s my first one with my new Flip camera and my first real video blog to make.
For you Youtubers, the video is also here http://youtube.com/watch?v=G8ITVV1etfM

I’ve finally gotten some of the photos off my cell so you can see my new room here:
[DECEMBER 2008: to people who read this in the future, these photos were taken down last month due to crazy people actually using this to find out where I go to school. CREEPY.]
Those will do until I get the ones from my parents on the good camera. I’ve gone to the restaurants and nearly emptied my pockets with prices around $4 for 12 chicken nuggets (insane) and $4 for a tiny biscuit sandwich with $.50 more for cheese (absurd). Luckily a guy in the same apartment but across the hall has a great SUV and drove us down to Wal-Mart to get groceries. In 25 minutes, I stocked up on everything I needed (cans of chili, salsa, bread, mayo…ok and some lettuce, carrots and water jugs). And some cups, since I forgot those at home and have been drinking milk out of my metal jug with the pop lid, then washing it out and filling it with water, every day in the morning.
I’ve visited the bookstore, the huge library, the restaurants and the buildings, so I’ve still got to head over to what they call The Pub, which is actually a coffee shop. I did step foot near the door and was appalled. I heard that a certain famous author wrote in coffee shops. How in the world could anyone think with all that incessant noise?! It’s impossible to hear myself, much less write down the voices in my head (erm ahem).
I’ll have to try to capture some video here soon and zap it over. A very nice thing I discovered today from the guy I share this side of the apartment with is that my room was broken into before I moved in, through my very own bedroom window. Some guys had left a mess in there but luckily the apartment people had cleaned it all before I came. No wonder the screen is still out. Hmmm. Funny how they didn’t mention that when I went to pay rent…
