Breaking Dawn Movie: Rated R?

My thoughts on Breaking Dawn’s rating, and why I’m 99.953% sure it will not be rated R.

Well you have to accept the fact thy the book was.not made.for young children
It would suck if they rated it R. But also it would have to be the birth scene, to stay true it would have to be very bloody and gory. So well just have to wait and hope for the best.
  • That’s exactly what I need wow thanks!

Breaking Dawn better NOT be rated R. I'm only 13 and I am obsessed with the Twilight saga. If I can't see this movie the day it comes out because I'm under 18 I'm gonna be so upset and so are alot of teens. But I don't think it will be rated R either because most of the fane base is teenagers.
  • At first I wanted BD to be rated R ONLY because it would reassure me that they'd put EVERYTHING in the movie....but I never really thought it through. And really...you make absolute fawkin sense...SO I totally agree...it shouldn't and it probably won't be rated R and I'm OK with that. =)

PS. At 2:10 you mention "on the last TWO..." do you know something we don't??? ;)

Kaleb, if Breaking Dawn is going to be Rated R, I think it ought to be due to Renesmee's violent birth, not because of Isle Esme. The scenes on Isle Esme were very mild compared to the graphic descriptions of all that bone breaking, bleeding, rib snapping in Book Two. Just something to consider...
  • I don't want the movie to be rated R. The book itself was not explicit, and I think it was completely appropriate for its designated audience. I wouldn't have wanted to read the book if it was just another romance novel that sold itself on smut, and I won't watch the movie if that's what they change it to.
I don't think Summit Entertainment will go for R rated content though. R rated films typically don't make nearly as much money as PG-13 films, and considering the film's fan-base is mostly teenage girls they'll try to keep it PG-13. Then, there's the fact that Stephenie doesn't want it to be rated R. I'm glad that she's a producer now. It gives her a greater amount of creative control. (Either that or Summit was suddenly desperate for more money in the budget. Typically producers are just the people who provide the money.)

Bravo! I agree completely that the movie DOES NOT have to be rated R to be good. Especially when it comes to the whole romance thing, like you said, there's always the tension; and I believe that the emotional aspect of things is much more powerful than the physical. And not to mention Breaking Dawn did NOT have majorly explicit scenes in it so why should the movie have to?

At this point, it would be absolutely stupid for the movie to be R when the first three are PG13. They would lose a good chunk of audience, and therefore money.

So, I agree that the movie should be PG13. It would ruin things otherwise.
