Owl City Has Free Fireflies!

I’m a huge Owl City fan (as is obvious from a ton of my recent videos!). His new album called Ocean Eyes is easily one of my favorites, and it’s great for almost anything: exercising, going outside, trying to fall asleep, etc. It’s a good bit of happy music that’s somehow not too sweet, even for someone like me who usually likes Anberlin and Shiny Toy Guns (my other two favorite bands!). This week only, you can actually download his new song “Fireflies” for free from iTunes (hear a preview of it in my video above).
Unlike must artists who would get that sickening, cotton-candy sound, Owl City can somehow even write an entire song about going to the dentist and actually make it fun to listen to. My favorite song from the new album (not including The Saltwater Room which was previously released) is If My Heart Was A House:

even though it is very hard to pick between that and Vanilla Twilight. You can hear most of the Owl City songs on his Myspace too.

hey are you going to one of the OWL CITY shows during his tour? i know owl city is coming to texas. Houston on halloween!

And this is such an amazing album! I only recently learned about Owl City (because I heard he'd be touring with Relient K – best band ever, in my book) and I was wondering what his music was like. I'm also not usually one for “pure pop… magic” but Adam is a lyrical/musical genious. ^.^

Also, Matt Thiessen (singer/guitarist/pianist/lyricist of Relient K) sings on “Cave In,” “The Bird and the Worm,” “Fireflies,” and “Tidal Wave,” (most obviously on some verses of 'Tidal Wave') which just adds to the awesomeness of this album, in my opinion.

If My Heart Was a House has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I've been listening to Owl City for about a year now… and while all of Adam's music is amazing, If My Heart Was a House just… it's just fantastic. It's just too bad it's not on his myspace yet, or that'd totally be my profile song, and it also stinks that you have to buy the full album to get it, but honestly, it so worth it
So anyone not buying the album, should totally go do that -nodnod- And. If you have the chance, go see him live, he's just as amazing live as he is on CD ^_^ (Kaleb, you have a typo… you say “must artists” me thinks it should say “most artists”? sorry, just had to point it out x)).

I bought Ocean Eyes yesterday and I'm totally loving it! I thought the song about the dentist was hilarious. I don't really have a favourite song, though, 'cause I love all of 'em.

I absolutely (sp?) LOVE Umbrella Beach!!!! It's soooo peppy and gets me happy. Also PERFECT music to dance to!!! And I love the music in the middle. It's awesome. I love how Owl City's sound is sooo original!!! I also like Fireflies a bunch! It's awesome. Makes me jump around and dance like a dork every time I hear it (can't believe I just admitted that…) and Umbrella Beach. I don't really like their slower songs… Like If My Heart Was A House. I little too slow for me…But, all in all, Ocean Eyes has to be my favorite album of theirs.

im not gonna lie… i absolutely love owl city! i discovered them on Pandora.com while listening to another band's station… it was absolutely incredible, and im getting my paycheck this friday… I'M BUYING AS MANY CD'S AS I CAN!!

I love Owl City a lot……..I have a couple of favorites from them- Fireflies (of course), Hello Seattle, and Vanilla Twilight………….I cant wait to get my next itunes card its all going toward Owl city, lol
