The idea for this song came to me suddenly while I was writing, and I had the entire thing arranged and recorded in about an hour. I left it on my computer for a month, then came back to it today, and didn’t change a single thing.
However, despite spending so little time on the song, the video took me nearly half a day to complete: mostly because I started out with a lame idea of showing my hands at the keyboard, doing each note and fading each one apart (this turned out horrible, after about 4 hours of filming, because basically all you’d see were these misty hands pressing the same keys over and over — LAME). With each beat in the song, there is a beat on the video, and I think it finally turned out right for this song.

Galleys for The Farfield Curse!
- March 27th, 2009 at 4:51 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -
The first printed copies of my book are finally here!
- Assembly Line
- The Stack
- A Bound Galley
Before anyone comments that a plain white cover is very boring, I shall explain. This is not the actual book yet, but what are called bound galleys. As a cheat sheet:
ARC’s: Advance Reader Copies, sent to Special Peoples before a book comes out.
BOUND GALLEYS: an advance Advance Reader Copy, sent to Really Special People even longer before a book comes out.
WHODUNNIT: what a publisher says when a Bound Galley mysteriously goes missing, coincidentally just after the author receives them in the mail.
The bound galleys are basically just printings of the book, double-spaced, with a softcover wrapped around it and the title slapped on. Even the chapter titles are in a plain, tiny, boring font: much unlike how the finished book will appear!
This, however, marks the first ever edition of The Farfield Curse to be printed by Sourcebooks, albeit a very small and very unedited version. This also means that things are truly, finally starting to move faster in the preparations for the release. I can’t even begin to describe the huge stuff that my publishers are planning for this release, and it’s getting to be so exciting. I will say that April will be a very big month for everyone who has waited all this time, especially me.
April will also be a very big month for everyone who has waited to see the cover art. And that is all I shall say on that for now

Where The Wild Things Are MOVIE
- March 26th, 2009 at 10:05 am by --KALEB NATION-- -
BEST. THING. EVER.
When this movie comes out, I have a feeling I will just sit in the theater for days, watching it over and over and over again. Seriously, I have waited since I was 2 years old to see this as a movie.
I just heard about this last week when I found this poster somewhere on the wild and glorious Internets, which brought me much joy:
According to the appropriately named WhereTheWildThingsAre.com, it’s coming out on October 16 of this year, which means this project has been kept a secret from me for quite some time. That gives me just enough time to find a Wild Things costume just like Max has in the poster, so I can wear it to the midnight release party
Question for the comments: Are you going see this movie? Otherwise, what’s your alibi for not going see it (ex: you are deathly allergic to all movies containing monsters and big fluffy suits
)?

On My Way To LA Again!
- March 19th, 2009 at 6:58 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -
I had such a fun time at the Twilight movie premiere back in November that I couldn’t resist flying back for the DVD release party! I will be at Borders Westwood in LA, California, on March 20 for the midnight release party. It’ll almost be like a mini reunion of all the cool promoters and fansite people I met last year, and I’ll be sure to bring back loads of photos and video from the trip!
I’ll also be Twittering any big happenings as fast as I can get them up (yes, technically I know it is called Tweeting, but the word Tweeting sounds slightly ridiculous*).
*as if informing the world via less-than-140-character updates about your life isn’t ridiculous enough.
By the way, there’s a short preview of a new song I’m working on in that video up there. Tell me what you think!
