When picking a book at random, it all goes down to book cover or the title. My target is getting a cover with hearts all over it or something mysterious...and/or a title that has a romance genre. Then, I check the back to see what it's all about. I'm absolutley sure I wouldn't pick the covers with people on them because well, it might offend people by racial. Some of the first books look too relastic & formal when I want to pick up a fiction that will bring you to a different world, .. but, yeah, they're really sophisticated. The one I like the best from your list is "The Lightning Thief"...my brother's ultimate favorite, second to yours xD. I'm gonna try to sneak Bran Hambric into his libary.
