Miley Cyrus and Friends

- May 17th, 2008 at 4:00 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

Currently, there are four music artists I refuse to devote an entire post to:

1. Britney Spears

2. Madonna

3. Miley Cyrus

4. Barney The Dinosaur

And then, as if to spite me, Britney puts out a record with three listenable tracks, Madonna smashes out an album that is 3/12′ths okay, and Barney The Dinosaur puts out that super smash-hit The Baby Bop Hop, which I could hardly resist writing a post about (as well as that other sure-to-be-radio-success, If You’re Happy And You Know It).

Ok, I am going on a complete tangent here. You won’t believe it, but to write that last line I actually looked up a Barney The Dinosaur music album. Let’s imagine for a second that you’ve never heard of Barney, and the album art does not show a purple dinosaur, but instead a skull and crossbones, with the Grim Reaper laughing at you. Then, read these song titles with the darkest voice you can imagine:

Listen To The Nighttime

Ducks I Once Knew

Hey! Look At Me! I Can Fly!

Welcome To Our Treehouse (MUHAHHAHAHA!)

Barney Has Had Enough Of Working For Kids

Do I hear scary creatures of the night, a duck slaughterhouse, illegal substances and a treehouse prison? Or maybe I’m just a little loopy.

Anyway, you inevitably came here to listen to the new Miley Cyrus song Seven Things, so I’ll just post it and say nothing and hope nobody notices:

Yes, I can promote Twilight. But no guy will ever listen to this frizzle. But I know why Certain People come, and they’ll be pestering me for weeks if I don’t post it.

Also, the theme to Speed Racer:

All I want to say is that better not be Lil Mama singing in the Speed Racer song, or else they have ruined an icon from my youth known as Speed Racer, which no one will be able to replace once Lil’s through with it.

Please do not ask  me for the full track to the Miley Cyrus song. The album comes out on July 22. If you want an early copy, email Miley. I’m sure she has them lying around a-plenty :D

My Article for tMF

- May 15th, 2008 at 2:21 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

Stephenie MeyerThanks to the enormous and wonderful readership that has graced my site TwilightGuy.com, I was asked to write an article about Stephenie Meyer for a large movie website called TheMovie-Fanatic.com. I tried to bring as much focus onto the actual words of Steph’s fans, since they are really the ones who can describe her best.

If you’d like to read my article, head on over to this page on tMF and check it out!

Also, there were so many positive responses from people wanting to help for the article (over 400!) that I couldn’t possibly get all of the best ones into the article. Thus, I posted my 25 favorites over here.

I find it very interesting to take a look at this, especially since I will be a very new author sometime late next year. There is something very different about Stephenie that sets her apart from everyone else, and I find myself watching Youtubes of her book signings as if they were videos in a class on How To Be An Author. Granted, I think I’ve already watched all the Lemony Snicket, JK Rowling and Rick Riordan videos as well– but unlike theirs, where the fans are simply fans, I find that Stephenie’s readers are something deeper.

It is a learning experience for me to see this, since for the years that I wrote my book, my mind was told in offhanded ways that authors must be reclusive, refuse fan mail, never appear without their publicist (and when they do, appear unkempt, drunk, and disorderly) and above all things: never, ever, ever have something like a Myspace page. I discovered Stephenie Meyer and all my old stereotypes for writers were gone: the same stereotypes I was dreading having to conform to. Here she was, knocking Harry Potter off the charts, and still being able to do fun things like music playlists for her books, a dream movie cast, a mega Myspace page and actually answer fan mail.

It was freeing, in a way, to learn that the best type of author was the real one: that before I went off and made myself a recluse because that’s what I thought authors were ‘supposed’ to do, the thing people really would rather is for me to be myself. For any writer out there, it is worth searching on Youtube ‘Stephenie Meyer Book Signing’ and really watching how it’s done like a professional (and the screaming crowds do loads to get you writing again ;) ).

Also, my agent posted probably my favorite story from him ever. I originally read it in one of his books, but if you’re a writer and you want to know the secret lives of those great beings we call Literary Agents, as well as some of the many odd things agents do for their clients, you absolutely must read this article.

TwilightGuy On TV

- May 11th, 2008 at 2:44 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

If you didn’t hear from TwilightGuy.com, my name was called out on the intercom at the big Stephenie Meyer book signing down the road yesterday, for me to go backstage and meet the author herself. Trouble is, I wasn’t there. Tickets had sold out before I could get in! So if you were one of the loyal readers who searched the cubbyholes for me, you have my deepest thanks– and sympathy as well, because you might as well have been searching for The Invisible Man ;) . I would have given anything to be there and meet her.

Thankfully, though, this video has brightened my spirits :D . Some cool person mentioned me as The Twilight Guy to a TV station in Utah while camping out for The Host at a bookstore:

And, a cool, yet blurry, clip about Stephenie in the middle :D

Reaction To TwilightGuy — Video

- May 10th, 2008 at 5:32 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

If you didn’t see it on TwilightGuy, I made a new video about the most common reaction when people hear of my site:

Subscribers to my Youtube channel get to see stuff I upload a day before it’s put up on the site, so if you’re not there…scoot on over and click the pretty yellow button. Also, on this video, Youtube delayed the audio just a bit, so the words don’t match up as well as they should with the mouths!

Bran Hambric Teaser Site

- May 7th, 2008 at 1:32 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

Alright, I finally have some updates on the book! We’re getting set for the usual revisions and edits to the manuscript, and all the many other things that have to be put in place for the huge launch we’re planning! Soon I’ll be on a flight to meet with the whole team up North and discuss things for the book. I’ll most likely be flying sometime in June, which will mean a few trillion photos and as much video as I can get when no one’s looking :D .

In the meantime, I just launched a type of teaser website for Bran Hambric at www.branhambric.com . I spent all day yesterday working on the art and I really like how it turned out! The moon-shaped necklace sticks out exactly like I picture it from the book.

Bran Hambric Teaser Site

NO that is not the book cover! It’s just something fun I made this morning. For the people who have seen the actual Bran Hambric logo, I took it off of this until I know for sure if they will use it or not. Cover art for the book is a long way off, but as soon as I know anything I’ll keep everyone up-to-date.

There is also a hidden page on the site if you can find it! There’s some cool free stuff I made on that, and after I get more things approved later on I’ll be putting up some wallpapers and other fun stuff. Go check it out and spread the word!

Oh, and tell me what you think of the art! I’d love to hear some opinions.
