Stephenie Meyer Was Here

- April 21st, 2008 at 11:26 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

In case you don’t already know, Stephenie Meyer was here. She said she laughed “buckets” at TwilightGuy.com, and then blogged about it.

If you go to TwilightGuy.com, you can see exactly what I’m talking about. Or, you could simply visit any number of Twilighter Myspaces, Lexicons, forums and fansites who have spread the word :)

Boys Like Girls – Thunder

- April 21st, 2008 at 9:00 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

Boys Like Girls - ThunderI am a very big radio listener. For years, before I moved to college, I would listen to the radio every day for hours while I hung around the house or worked out or was in the car, and it was always some sort of small thrill waiting to see what they would play next (unfortunately, it was usually something like the Yin Yang Twins or Lil Crunk, a genre I abhor save for that Flo Rida song).

One of my favorite parts of radio (strange as I will sound) is trying to guess what the Summer Song of that year would be. One year, it was easily Golddigger by Kanye West. Before that, it was We Belong Together by Mariah Carey, and another year it was Don’t Cha by PCD (obviously, they don’t always reflect what should have been). If the summer song is good, you’ll get to hear it 5 or so times an hour. If it is abysmally terribly awful, then that number seems to be automatically bumped up to 10 or 20 times an hour.

I am not quite sure since it’s a new track, but I am leaning to think that the new one from Boys Like Girls could become the Summer Song of 2008.

The song is called Thunder and I saw the lyrics on a Twilighter’s myspace a month before the record label even sent it to me. When people get the song before radio people get it, then something’s up. Give it a listen and see if you’re getting the same summer feelings.

Jack Johnson – Better Together

- April 20th, 2008 at 12:00 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

Curious George…or Jack Johnson? This song is actually quite an older track, but I still listen to it on those very rare quiet evenings when I’m trying to read a book. Jack Johnson always puts out this ultra-soft, quiet stuff, though for some reason I always imagine him as a monkey, since I first heard about him when radio stations madly played his song that was in the Curious George movie. This song, however, is much better than his radio hit in my opinion.

It’s called Better Together. Soft guitars, slow beat: almost reminds me of You And Me by Lifehouse, without the big push of the guitars and drums. Another one of those wind-down tracks along the lines of John Mayer.

The D.E.Y – She Said

- April 19th, 2008 at 9:16 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

The D.E.Y.I actually don’t listen to that much hip-hop, but there is a certain sub-genre to it that I actually enjoy. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it encompasses little bits of Nelly’s old album, some Usher, that song by The Game and even a bit of Alicia Keys. Yahoo.com calls the type of music ‘Quiet Storm’ under their urban section.

This new one from The D.E.Y called She Said has those soft guitars and a beat that reminds me a little of the older stuff from Ashanti. It’s a nice, quiet urban track for winding down at the end of the d.e.y. :)
