Yael Naim – New Soul

Yael Naim - New Soul Whilst working in my room, I happened to hear this song on television in the other room. Something about it made me actually stop what I was doing and listen to the commercial.

Yael Naim is a formerly unknown singer whose song New Soul was picked up for Apple Mac commercials. Her success with it was so unexpected, her album wasn’t even ready for the US. I’m not quite sure what it is about this song but people perk up and listen when it comes on. However, especially because at parts it resembles something a shrill five-year-old would practice in a preschool glee club, this could be really really irritating to some people. Take your pick.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! I've only heard it on the Mac commercials before, though; I didn't know what it was called or who wrote it. ;)
  • I like that song too. I saw them on the Oscars. Marketa Irglova is only 19 and she is so talented. I probably have to see the movie too, since the song usually means a lot more once I see what it was for.
  • Kaleb, I just featured the video for this song on my blog last week. I like the song, LOVE the video!

Do you like Falling Slowly from Once? It won the Oscar Sunday night. The song and movie are both really wonderful.

I really like this whole album. It is available in other countries and is a great find. In fact I like the rest of the album better than New Soul.

I also like this reviewers view of the album
