kaza kingsley tour

Kaza Kingsley is the author of the Erec Rex series. Already there are two books out in the series, titled The Dragon’s Eye and The Monsters of Otherness.

Thanks Kaza for being here. First, for all the writers here, I have always been curious about that very first book signing, your first time out with your published book. How did that go and where were you? What did you do to prepare?

My first signing at Borders Books in Cincinnati was fantastic. Of course it helped that everyone I knew and their brother showed up to support me. I was floating on air, truly. I didn’t do much to prepare – I didn’t even do a reading at that signing. It was too busy, so I just socialized and signed books. A lot of fun! Then I had a party at my house that night to celebrate.day-14-kingsley.gif

You appeared at the Book Expo America some time ago to promote your books. What was the BEA like your first time there as an author?

That was an amazing experience. The Javitz center was enormous and packed with people. And the signings I did were incredibly busy. It was a little overwhelming – my publicist had given me a list of people to meet, but only a few of them were at their booths.

The best part was winning a bunch of awards at the BEA. ForeWord Magazine Awards took place in the middle of the Javitz center, and Erec Rex won silver for YA Book of the Year! The worst was that I got incredibly sick the second day I was there. It was hard to even walk. I had been throwing up all night.

Have you ever walked into a bookstore and stumbled upon your own book when you weren’t looking for it?

Return of My Show

- January 19th, 2008 at 5:41 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

the top 5 logo-spacer-For those of you who are exasperated with best-of’s, my show is back up in full swing again, and I’ve got at least half a playlist of new stuffs. So be sure to check it out and if you want on this year doing an intro, record it and email me the mp3. Preferably the ‘hi this is * from * and you’re listening to…‘ variety since I need more of those.

I’ve got some cool stuff planned for the show this year but I’m still working it all out, so keep checking.

And Kaza Kingsley will be on tommorow! Don’t forget to come back for that. She’ll be taking questions in the comment box all day the 20th of January.

Paula Abdul – Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow

- January 18th, 2008 at 7:40 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow, the new song for 2008 by Paula Abdul-spacer-This track came out 89 seconds ago, and I had to review it simply because it’s Paula Abdul, pop diva who ruled the radio back when I was a little kid. It’s called Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow and besides the 90′s-ish poplollies-and-wishwash title (a tradition for Paula) the track is closer to Britney’s latest album with a cool club sound. Of course, only the best for Paula’s big comeback.

The full thing is even better. This is her first recording in 10 years. Luckily, I got it on advance from Randy Jackson’s upcoming collection titled Randy Jackson’s Music Club. On this song they could have skipped the bridge, but it’s easy to put up with. And she’s announced a new album coming soon.

As for Randy’s collection, it will be featuring people like Mariah Carey, Katherine McPhee, Elliot Yamin, Joss Stone, & more. He’s probably the only producer on the planet who can line that talent up on one CD.

If you like it, leave a comment for Paula’s comeback

Taylor Swift – Teardrops On My Guitar

- January 18th, 2008 at 9:37 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

Taylor Swift - Teardrops On My Guitar-spacer- Taylor Swift certainly has what it takes to stay in the music spotlight. Just barely off of her success with her first song Tim Mcgraw, she put out Teardrops On My Guitar, and while still riding off that one on country radio she sent it to Top 40 with this new mix.

Change the drums, add some instruments and she has another hit. Turns out her management is smart as well, because just as she put out this track, she already has another song to country radio. They have found the key to radio success: keep the good tracks coming. Taylor’s people have resurrected my hope that some people in the music business still have brains when it comes to managing artists well.

For the comment box: Which mix do you like better- this new one or the album version?

Brisingr by Christopher Paolini

-spacer-Christopher Paolini, author of Eragon and Eldest, has announced that book 3 in the Inheritance series will be called Brisingr. I know most people who read this site are fans of the first two books, so read about it over here….

For the comment box: what do you think of the cover art? And didn’t Paolini say it would be a green dragon?
