I had the wonderful luck to catch these guys at a concert in Austin, Texas, without even knowing who they were. The band, Athlete, was on tour with Switchfoot, doing the show opening. I remember trying to memorize parts of the songs as they sang them so that when I got home, I would know what to search for so I could get them online. I think their show was even better than Switchfoot’s.
This is yet another great track of theirs called Hurricane, a follow up to their song Half Light, which was also really good. The only thing they could redo is that awful album art.

Inspired by the famous Lemony Snicket’s “12 Books in 120 Seconds” and with a touch of near-midnight madness, I made my first video summary of a book. My first pick is naturally Erec Rex: The Dragon’s Eye, by my friend Kaza Kingsley.
If you were subscribed to my YouTube Page, you had the special privilege of getting to see this 2 days before anyone else. I only spent an evening on this video but I do think it still turned out pretty good. I am trying out a variety of videos so I may be doing something different next…or another book review.

I had never heard of Leona Lewis before this song, but she was the winner of the third season of Britain’s American Idol equivalent, The X-Factor, featuring the great Sharon Osbourne as a judge. Leona’s song Bleeding Love is also the biggest selling single in the UK.
She also happens to hold the record of the fastest-selling downloadable song, for her remake of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’, selling out 50,000 copies of the song in just 30 minutes. I’m left a wretched heap that I completely missed this one for so long: and I thought I knew music…

Carrie Underwood again shows with her new song All American Girl why American fell in love with her in the 4th season of American Idol. Not only has she managed to bring country radio into the mainstream but she’s also done what few artists can do these days, and that is to simply put out music that is good for the genre she is in. She is very much like Kelly Clarkson all over again, which is exactly what the people want and American Idol continues to refuse to them. It must only happen once every 4th season, I guess, though I’m hopeful for a few I’ve seen coming up this season.
I really didn’t like this song the first time I heard it, but then I watched the video and changed my mind. One of the greatest talents that Carrie has is the ability to make people who hate country music like her: so if you’re one of those, now’s the time to give it a try.
Who do you think is better, Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood?

In which I go through a typical day in my life as a guy in college, as told through my meals. Tell me how you like this video: it’s my first one with my new Flip camera and my first real video blog to make.
