Web Stats

- September 26th, 2007 at 11:52 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

I’ve been checking with all the stats programs that come with my website to see where people are coming from- and how surprised was I to find visitors coming from as far away as Singapore, Italy, France, Netherlands, Brazil and even Sudan. According to the charts I’ve gotten over 19,000 hits this month and 51,000 in August, a whopping rise from the 5046 in January. The reason for this, I think, is because I switched to WordPress, which makes it easier to find the site in search engines.

This means one thing, though, and that is only about 1 in every 5000 visitors leaves a comment. I realize that when I go to or read a blog, I myself rarely leave a comment simply because I don’t know what to comment on! An interesting remedy which was created by Xanga was the idea of eProps, which are points you can give with or instead of a comment, one or two depending on how good the post was- this system works well when you don’t know what to say.

Here’s some of my stats. One of these is monthly and the other I think is just a certain block of time. Click to see them bigger:

For the comment box…all you fellow bloggers, do you ever check your stats and have the same problem with one out of 1000 commenting?

[--Added Later-- I suppose this is why people like Meg C and Rick Riordan turn off commenting on their sites, since it makes it look like no one's visiting -- ]

Basil Brush

- September 24th, 2007 at 5:57 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

Basil Brush Who doesn’t love a little fox with a British accent? I first saw him on a French and Saunders and then by chance searched him and found that there’s a whole show featuring Basil Brush, the British fox with the sense of humor. Here he is on YouTube in part 1 of an episode called ‘Bend it like Basil’ (think Bend It Like Beckham) and once you see it you might understand why this fox is so funny. Of course, you have to like British humor like me, though anyone who’s seen the Muppets can’t just sit there without at least a tiny chuckle.

- September 21st, 2007 at 9:00 am by --KALEB NATION-- -

Here is a video on YouTube that I made with clips from my 19th birthday last weekend. You get to see the Celebrity t-shirt that my brother Jaden had made for me close to the end.

Muse Music and More

- September 20th, 2007 at 9:27 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

I have been hearing this song for weeks now but it wasn’t until I went to Stephenie Meyer’s website that I decided to get it. The song is called Super Massive Black Hole and its from Muse, and a clip of it is up in the player, along with a bunch of other great stuff.

Another new feature: down at the bottom of the sidebar is a way to subscribe and get the blog sent to you by email. I haven’t tested this completely but if it work, you’ll get the actual posts in your inbox every time it goes out at night. However, if I’ve made some terrible mistake, and it sends you a message every single night regardless of it I update anything, don’t get cross…I’ll have it fixed soon enough once I figure out this feedblitz stuff…

Something I find very curious is how bright and welcoming Stephenie’s website is, when she writes vampire stories for teens…hmmm.

Tomorrow I will have the link to the video with clips from my birthday, and the Celebrity T-shirt my brother Jaden got me.

New Site

- September 20th, 2007 at 3:50 pm by --KALEB NATION-- -

In case you haven’t noticed, this is the new home of my blog. Your browser should have automatically redirected you to http://www.kalebnation.com/blog/the-post-you-were-trying-to-view. Don’t worry- if you go to kanation.com or any of my old blog sites, it will automatically bring you here from now on. Also, there’s a bunch of new music in the player, which you can enjoy. There will be plenty more updates over the next few weeks.

The point behind this is that kalebnation.com will now be the hub for everything. However, all my previous users will have to re-register.
